Filmed on location and now in post-production, this independently made production tells a deeply personal story through the reflective eyes of a 70-year-old man, whose memories trace a four-generation bond with the iconic Mustang brand. The narrative gracefully unfolds across four distinct eras—the 1940s, 1960s, 1990s, and today’s modern landscape—capturing not only the evolution of an automotive legend but also the shifting contours of American life and family heritage.
Set against the dynamic backdrop of Mid Ohio’s historic racetracks, "Mustang" is much more than a film; it is a journey into the heart of American motoring and the spirit of adventure. The production took full advantage of Mid Ohio’s storied grounds, incorporating real racing sequences that pulse with authenticity. Renowned racer and automotive expert Norm Murdock leads these high-octane moments, infusing the film with his deep knowledge and unmistakable energy. When approached with the bold vision of this short film, Norm’s response was both simple and inspiring: “When do we start?” His enthusiasm and commitment became a driving force behind the entire project.

​The film’s visual storytelling is as rich as its narrative, with meticulous era-specific color grading, period-accurate cars, costumes, and props that transport viewers to each bygone era. Every frame is crafted to immerse the audience in the time and place of the story—from the nostalgic charm of the 1940s to the revolutionary spirit of the 1960s, the vibrant energy of the 1990s, and the contemporary pulse of 2024. This dedication to visual authenticity not only honors the legacy of Mustang but also deepens the emotional resonance of the protagonist’s reflective journey.
The cast of "Mustang" is led by Hollywood actor Todd Covert (The Alto Knights, Dark Waters, Charmed) and features a dynamic ensemble including Jim Cummins, Samantha Woodill, John Feather, Matt Piper, Deirdre Tobin, Niko Carter, Blake Evans, Luke Albu, Andre’as Williams, Joe Finelli, Caroline Garduno, Cameron Mink, Stephanie Soller, and Norm Murdock. Their performances breathe life into a tapestry of relationships and experiences, linking generations with authenticity and heartfelt emotion.
Adding an essential layer to the narrative, acclaimed British film and TV composer Rupert Uzzell—known for The Fabric of You and his BAFTA-nominated project—created an original score that sweeps viewers along on an emotional journey. Captivated by the early cut of the film, Rupert’s music intensifies both the exhilarating racing sequences and the tender, introspective moments that define the protagonist’s reflective path.
